  17. DESCRIPTION

  19.      AXsh's main purpose is to let other users have access to your
  20.      Amiga and still be sure that nothing inappropriate can happen.
  21.      AXsh ensures this by allowing access only to directories that are
  22.      defined accessible and only accepting commands and arguments that
  23.      are defined legal.
  24.  
  25.      AXsh supports multiple lines, multiple users logged in
  26.      simultaneosly and 8 different user levels. User actions can be
  27.      saved into a log file. Each user has his/her own home directory,
  28.      but the used disk space can be/is restricted.

  30.      AXsh can be used as a bulletin board system with or without
  31.      UUCP or as a door program in a 'normal' BBS. It has its own mail,
  32.      news and file transfer programs. However, AXsh is not restricted
  33.      to remote access, it can be very well used as a local shell.

  35.      The shell itself has command line editing, function key macros,
  36.      history, aliases, variables and scripts. It also has filename and
  37.      commandname completion assigned to the TAB key. VT100, Ansi and
  38.      dumb terminal modes are currently supported.

  40.      The shell uses Unix-like paths, which are converted to AmigaDOS
  41.      paths before executing the commands.

  43.      Many useful programs are included in the packet and any CLI-based
  44.      programs can easily be added.

  46.      AXsh systems can be connected together to form a network, so that
  47.      mail and news are exchanged between systems. You can also use UUCP
  48.      instead of the native AXsh net system or you can use another
  49.      transport mechanism like Fidonet (TrapDoor) to transfer AXsh net
  50.      packets. News and mail programs are configurable to fully interface
  51.      with UUCP or CNews.

  53.      If you have WB2.1, you can choose the used language from English,
  54.      Finnish, Spanish, French, Danish and Swedish. New 2.0 features are
  55.      also used, but you can still use AXsh with ks1.3 if you have
  56.      arp.library.

  61.      Can use 2.0 resident commands and exports all variables to local
  62.      shell variables. Also other new features support the use of various
  63.      news and mail readers.

  65.      Slightly improved command line editor has now a dumb-mode for dumb

  68.      Rn can be configured to work on its own, with plain UUCP or with Cnews.

  96.      The demo version can be freely distributed, provided that the
  97.      contents of the archive remain intact. However, also the
  98.      demo version is shareware and only intended for evaluation.

  101. IMPORTANT!

  103.      This can be the last 1.3-compatible version. However, bugfixes will
  104.      be done for registered users, if needed. The next version will be
  105.      totally new inside, writing applications will be easier, the security
  106.      will improve etc. If there is enough interest (and registrations),
  107.      I might consider making a 1.3-compatible version also.

  111.      AXsh version 1.3 will be available by BMS and probably also from
  112.      fidonet fairly soon (at least the previous version was spread quite
  113.      quickly). If you absolutely need to get the package quicly AND your
